35-36 ford coupe deck

I am looking for a trunk/rumble deck lid for a 35 ford coupe, any suggestions? Fiberglass, steel, half dead, or an idea for a way to create it with english wheel or a scrapped coupe that could be cut to fit. Like a upper part of a 40 ford coupe lid.

Lots of ways to do it, just depends on what you want/skills/tools/time. Sam Foose did a '36 with a 40ish clam style opening-lots of work, but looks cool.

I have the same dilemna as you, and I will be buying a new Fiberglass unit from Wescott's-everyone has said their quality is among the best out there, but there are others-

How much is that Wescott's deck lid? I generally build a car almost stock, but you are right about the utility of having a clam shell trunk lid, it's a shame to waste all that rear area with a peep hole. Thanks for your ideas.

Last time I checked it was in the $850-875 range-what's nice is that they build an internal metal structure to support everything-what I had problems with was finding a set of original Trunk Hinges -I finally ended up with two sets only to find out that they are now offered new-

re: 35-36 ford coupe deck

You know,

I don't know, I just found it ironic that someone had started making them after I paid a ton for mine. As I recall, it was one of the "bigger" suppliers-Drake, Mac's, Wescott, etc.

All of the Decklids I found needed some major repairs or went quite high (I saw one go on Ebay (a nice one) for over $1300-

I'll look around and see if I can find them-

re: 35-36 ford coupe deck

I have not bought the car yet, I just wanted to know what I am getting into. I am about 75% interested in buying it. The guy said it doesn't have all the garnish mouldings on the inside too. I would have to sell my 40 coupe to finance this project. Or sell my other 40 coupe which runs with flathead, but needs everything. Too many projects anyway. Since you are looking for 35 parts, we could locate stuff and share what we find. I know where there is a 35 cabriolet, it is a roller, and another friend has a 5 window 35 all original, very nice car. Up to this time, I have never really considered buying one, much else to accumulate parts for one. Thanks 35 coupe.

Hey 35Window, would you happen to have an extra garnish molding for the windshield? I also am looking for the interior header panel for my '35.

Let me know.

Thanks!

re: 35-36 ford coupe deck

ratfink,

Sorry, no, that is one I do not have, although I've noticed that they are coming down in price on Ebay (why I have no idea)-

I purchased a Header Panel that has a cut-out for a Speaker and has Sunvisors on Ebay-for some reason they are bringing some money, and, after getting it, I wonder why I didn't just make one-they aren't anything really special-
