Whell i went and looked at the motor and it too was also a TBI motor.... I still cannot use the heads but i bought it anyways heres some pics.

Its a four bolt

casting#'s 14393638

now i put this image up of the piston because all of them have this #3 stamped in them but when i measured the bore with a dial caliper it reads the standard 4.00 and not 4.030,I dont know why there all stamped the same.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Number on the piston is just an in-house production/quality control/internal tracking/supplier/batch #, as are the other various markings on the top of the piston. Nothing unusual to see on factory pistons, and nothing to do with their sizing.

Interesting that this block has been listed as a roller-equipped block, yet I see there's no holes drilled or tapped for the spider, even though there are the bosses for it. (BTW, I know that some blocks were made like this, just not this particular block c/n)

Does this block have the hole drilled through to the camshaft for use w/a mechanical fuel pump? Are the holes drilled and tapped for a cam retainer?

Thanks.

If only I could base all my info on one 2 bolt main that has lasted that would be great But some guys are not as lucky.

And I have seen where guys say add studs, Studs do not change the cap and is not magic as its still a grey cast main cap as its like putting new ARP rod bolts in a old set of rods it does not make the rod any stronger its just better hardware in old set of rods.

Yes it is drilled and tapped for a cam retainer as you can seen in this pic

and here you can see that the hole is drilled for a mechanical fuel pump.
although this block is not stamped with the desired 010/020 that most people look for,I hope it will be a good foundation for a stroker
The heads are cast#14102191 and in pretty good shape but I would rather get a set of vortec heads and have them drilled for the old style intakes.
Would these 191 heads be worth anything?I thought about cleaning them up and putting them on craigslist but unsure of a asking price sense I only paid $150 for the hole motor.....

My personal thoughts are that it will be fine as long as its not asked to turn 7K RPM or make 500 HP.

I don't know it the "20/10" markings apply to these later blocks, or if that was just on the earlier (mostly 010) blocks.

Anybody know?

You might get $100 for the pair. Maybe.

Early intakes won't work any good- the Vortec intake port has been raised almost 1/4" so only Vortec-specific intakes will work. The earlier raised-port intakes come close but still offer no advantage over the Eddy RPM, IMO. They can very well have sealing issues as well.

I appreciate the heads-up, thanks!
