350 cam in a 305?

would i be able to put a stock camshaft out of a 1977 350 cu.in chevy block into a 1989 305 cu.in?..would there be a advantage? ..ie power increase, fuel increase, thanx

the cams will interchange, but there will likely be no benefit. if this is a used cam, the lifters must go on the exact same lobe they were run on before. if you need a cam for your 305, you can spend $80 and order a cam and lifter kit from Summit, I`d go with the 204 214 duraion @ .050 camshaft. this cam will give a mileage as well as a torque increase. I`d rather do this than trust a used cam.
