350 chevy help

i need some help getting started i just purchased a 350 chevy to put in my 87 olds cutlass, the 350 chevy came out of a 1975 motor home which i heard run before i bought if from the junk yard my mechanic said no ticks or knocks which is good. I bought a engine gasket kit new plugs and wires and a carb rebuild kit for a Rochester 4 barrel i also have a pair of 3'' headers how do i get more power on a low budget. I plan on a rebuild next summer but for now i want to go fast please help me i am open to any suggestions. I also have a 350 turbo tranny.

Some good plugs an wires. Get an after market ignition system. Might check into a different carb.

It would be a lot easier to do some mods before you install the engine. Intake & cam would help. That engine will have low compression so don't throw a large cam in.
