Hi, we bought a 85 short bed s10 that weighs rite at 3100, and I want to put my 350 in it which has around 400 hp. Can you weld the mounts of a V8 where the old 4 banger mounts where ?.
This is probably the single most popular swap on the planet. Do a search and you'll find multiple suppliers who can send you drop-in engine mounts, oil pans, radiators, shrouds, hoses, front springs to properly suspend the additional weight... the works.
Follow this link. They use standard chevy v8 clamshells available at any parts store. You will need to rescale these before you print them Left at 142% & right at 154%.
I got my v8 s10 mounts from JTR. Jaguars that run. They are of very high quality and adjustable. You have to remove your old 4 cylinder frame mounts and bolt on the 2.8 liter v6 mounts for the JTR mounts to work. They sell the 2.8 liter frame mounts as well. Its a bolt in swap. Got a few pics here...
I had the 2.8 mounts, and quickly upgraded to long tube headers and the bettr mounts that put the motor where it should be and are alot more sturdy than the 2.8 mounts. Trans Dapt swap plates you can find them on summit.
