350 Cop Car Motor!!

I just baught a 350 out of a 1994 caprice classic cop car. What I was wondering is. What Kinda power would I be looking at from the motor. I believe it has a roller cam.

Thanks for any and all Input about the motor

Thanks in advance

Ed

I am pretty sure it is a LT1 but my friend has a 94 z28 camaro that has that which I think makes like 310 to 320 or more i am thinking it is more and the cop LT1 might make even more.

if you go to mnfbody.com someone on there will tell you exactly how much power it makes

Most, if not all, engines from police cars are rated the same as their every day counterparts. The top Caprice engine was a 260hp LT1.

I had a guy rebuild for me a 1990 350, 5x50 4-bolt Caprice cop engine. He said mine would be 335HP. He put a mild cam (110*) in, TRW forged Hi perf. pistons,
ARP chrome molly conn. rod bolts, s.s. valves, Hi vol. pump, Hp lifters, roller tip rockers. I have never checked it out I'm just going on what he told me.

You'll be happy with your purchase. I was offered a 350/700R4 out of a 87 Caprice. Turned out, it was an unmarked squad car, and it had burned in the interior. I passed on it (DUMB) at the time cuz I didn't need one. Told a friend who bought it. I wound up helping to do the swap into a 58 Sedan Delivery. That thing is quick and will spin the tires at will! ENJOY!

The police packages were rated at 260 hp, and had iron heads. The police package (9C1) bennefits
were things like HD radiator, seperate engine, transmission, and steering oil coolers. HD alternator and true duel exhaust. Along with a host of suspension upgrades.
The Camaro/Firebirds were rated at 275 hp in 94.

not sure

I don't know about the HP. But does it really matter when you have on a black suit, dark glasses at night, riding around listening to the Blues Brothers and calling your friend Elwood.

Agreed. I have a few. 350 LT1, iron head, 260 hp/330 tq, cam is a 191/196 duration. Confirm that the trunk RPO is LT1 and not L99 which is the baby LT1 that displaces 4.3L. Its not common, but sometimes there were cop cars used for fire chiefs, supervisors, or lower budget departments that were just civilian model cars with lights on them.

The intake port on the iron head is excellent, in fact it is the exact same port as the vortec head. The iron heads flowed so nicely that they copied the iron LT1 head's intake port when they made the vortec head in 96

Look for the casting number on the block. If it ends in 327, it's a 350 LT1. If it ends in 588, it's the 265 L99. The last 3 digits should also be cast into the side of the block, which might be easier to see.
