the best hint I could give you is to check out FLUID DAMPER superb product . the difference between the two dampers is one is for an externally balanced engine 8'' usually a 400 crank and the smaller is for an internally balanced engine. If you are not aware these are not cheep 300.00 but well worth the $$. They really help the timing to hit dead nuts . I do not think you will need to worry about the snout size the manufacturer will have that all figured out for you .

Ive seen a couple dampers off 4.3 core engines that were not neutral balanced but never knew why.
Be aware that the damper for Vortec engine is not same as older engines (pre 1996). Its slightly narrower to allow for reluctor wheel thats sandwiched between damper and timing chain gear. If you put the wrong one one there youll start eating belts. |
