You can check the pump by installing a pressure gauge and taping it to the cowl and watching while you drive.
Since your problem happens at idle then I highly doubt there's anything wrong with the pump. Its almost 100% positive that its carb related. Either not enough fuel or too much. Do what I said to do in my fist response and let us know what happens. It should clear up the stalling as a poorly adjusted carb or timing in the cause of this problem most of the time.
