Dumb question here. im replacing my heater hoses on my 72 nova 383. Took them off and now i cant remember which one goes to the waterpump and which one goes to the manifold. If im looking at the engine on the passenger side the one on the top of the heater core goes to the waterpump?? and the bottom one goes to the manifold??? cant remember does it matter?? thanks

The one coming from your manifold should go be the one that gets interupted by the heater control valve. Water comes out of the manifold, runs through the core and is pulled back in and recirculated through the motor by the pump. You want to be able to stop the hot water from getting to your heater core when you turn your heat down.

edit - btw the core itself does not care which way the water is flowing through it.
