350 jumps in to 2nd gear

just put in a 350 from the junk yard it like jumps or hopes in to 2nd gear and a little jump in 3rd what could that be?

maby that is why it was in the junkyard. junkyard engines and trans are considered cores for rebuilding unless gaurenteed, which most yards do with worthy engines/ trans. but to answer your question, it could be that the trans needs a rebuild, could be an ajustment, governer, kick down or shift modulator.

what do u mean by "jumping" into 2nd gear?? is it full of fluid? a th350 from empty will hold anywhere from 10 1/2 to 12 qts of fluid from bone dry. do u know how many miles r on the unit u installed? how is the engagement into reverse or drive? does it have a shift kit? please help with more info so u can get a proper diagnosis..
