Hello all, I have a 4 bolt main 350 SBC I pulled from a Toy Landcruiser. It has a RV style came for torque and an Edelbrock performer series intake and carb with offroad seats/needles. When changing out the cam should I do anything else? Timing chain? new lifters? pushrods?

I am putting the 350 into an old volvo and would like to get some mild performance out of it, nothing crazy this will also be a back up vehicle. I have some Vortec heads to put on it, but I am looking for some input on what cam I should pick up and if I should do anything with the carb and or intake.

It will be a tight squeeze so I am thinking of ramhorn style exhaust manifold, I am not sure that hugger headers would give me more room?? 3" out the back?

Tranny, I ran by the junkyard and saw that they had a couple of V8 camaro's with automatic tranny's behind them. For $125 I will probably go that route...

should I do anything else? Timing chain? new lifters? All these need to be new.. Pushrods can usually be re-used if the end balls are round and not scored or worn..

I would look into buying a complete late model 5.3 with trans. Complete from fan to tail housing and with all the accessories, including the ecu.

You will end up spending less money and power and mpg will be better.

1200 dollars you should be able to get a complete later model driveline

That is a possibility, would the wiring be a pain in the ***?

Ive steered away from late model engines because of the wiring and ecu. May not be a pia to some but it would be to me. Plus why spend more $ if you already have an engine.
