All I have is a dia for a 72 chevelle..... should be close.

HEI needs a switched 12v and one for the tach…..if you have a tach.

I'd remove the pur wire (in the 72 dia) from the coil and either tape it up or remove it completely. It is the resistance wire for the points/coil type system and will not work well with the HEI.

I’d also remove the Yel wire from the "I" terminal on the starter, it was used to provide a full 12volts while cranking, after it started the "I" terminal went dead and the coil got 9ish volts from the run position on the ing switch (the pur wire removed above).

Run a new wire from the 12v terminal on the HEI to a switched 12 volt (hot in run and start) at the ing switch…… that will give you 12 volts needed to pwr the HEI

Autozone offers wiring diagrams, testing and repair procedures for many production vehicles.
Go to www.autozone.com
You will need to register and create a password.
From the dropdown select the vehicle (new).
Select the category. Vehicle repair guides.
Next you will find listings of repair categories or chapters. Navigate to wiring diagrams, testing or repair procedures etc. Then select the desired item.
