350 oil pressure problem
My son and I have a 69 chevy truck with a 350. The motor has only 1,000 miles on it. It started making a tapping nosie like a rocker. We put a manual gauge on it and get only 30 psi on start-up and no oil gets up top. nothing from the push rods on either side. oil pump ?

Sometimes it takes a while before oil makes it to the top of the engine. It`s very rare sbc oil pumps give any issues. 30 psi oil pressure is excellant at start up idle speed. Get a oil pump primer and reprime the engine until oil comes out of the rockers. I was adjusting a friend of mine`s rockers yesterday while the car was running and it was a while before any oil made it to the top of the engine.
