350 out, 454 in?????????
im have a 1980 camaro that is in a restoration process.i am wondering what i would all have to do to the car to stuff a 454 in it. the car is automatic, i agree that hurts bad, but i was plannying on a 700r4 or 400 turbo tranny, what one? also will i have to do anything with my rear end, gear ratio wise? and should i have the clearence for headers. this motor is going to be bored 30 over 10 under on the rods and mains, a crane cam 272 duration, roller rockers and lifter. and stock heads , with a performer intake and holley double pumper carb, what is my hp range here. thanks guys... and i love this site everyone is frinedly and knows how to get along here. and i support the import theory, they are not american muscle, but can be fun cars for young kids to feel the need for speed, and think they are something, then when they grow old and wise, they will learn were real power comes from.

your going to have to break out the saw, torch, welder, and a freindly whacking hammer.the motor mounts you got gotta go and you will need to chop them inner fender wells out if you want to get those headers in. sometimes the firewall has to be modified in some cars. and dont forget to switch the coil springs because the ones you got in there aint going to cut it. the trannys are hard to say. if your going to use the car for regular driving and fun i would go with the 700r4. but if its going on the strip alot i would use the 400.yes the rear gears need changed but im not sure what your doing with it i would ask one of the wiser ones on the board about this one.the hp might be around 425 to 540hp. the tork should be 500tq or more. have fun!

alright what about the motor mounts now, are they going to have to go even if i dont use headers. also the fender walls, what about them will the be fine with the stock manifolds?

i would cut the inner fender walls no matter what for easy maintence.the motor mounts you have now will not line up with the big block. you may even have to put a new cross member in.there is books out there that have a lot of step by step information in it.i would get are doing a big project.all the info you can get is very valueable.also go to order this catalog they will have the motor mounts and cross members you will need.there is over 1,200 pages of parts in this catolog. i used to have one very affordable prices.
