350 price?

Hey guys its been a while sence my last post and im finaly geting the money thing compleatly worked out. I think I have decided to do what most people have said and replace my 305 with a 350. I was wondering how much I would be looking at spending to get a decent 350 (think junk yard)? Basicly the 350 is going to get striped compleatly down and once that is done I'm going to take the block to some place to get a bored over and ground out so i can turn it into a 383 stroker. I also need to know if I find a good 350 if I will be able to use the stock heads after the block is done? Oh and well I'm at it ill ask one more question. Which rear end gears would work good with my 305 and the 350? From what I'v heard thats one of the problems I have now with the car is a bad gear combo (the factory gear combo for the 78 camaro from cali).

Look for a late model roller cammed block. That is '87 or later.

There are plenty of cheap 383 kits out there.

Thanks for the info on the motor and kit. About how much do you think we are talking for the motor? Just a rough price would be fine.

Around here, 350 Chevys are getting scarce and if you do find a "rebuildable core" you are going to pay from $300.00 up plus exchange for a motor from a retail junkyard. The heads will be junk!!! Plus machine shop time. Plus parts. Plus. Pluss? That is why crate motors are popular.

$300 dosnt sound to bad. I live in ohio and for the most part people drive trucks which tend to have v8's in them so there not all that scarce around here. It would be super great if i could get one for about $200 because I could buy it out of my first pay check
