350 sbc Shortblock and vortec heads

Hello,

I am looking at buying a rebuilt shortblock that has been bored .030 to .040

Then I would want to get a pair of new Iron Vortec heads.

Am I able to just basically bolt the heads onto the block, or does it take machining to match the two together?

The heads will bolt to the block, no prob, but you will need a vortec intake, and the heads will also need some machine work if you intend to use a cam with over .470" lift. They are a good budget build head, have fun.

I agree. The heads bolt to the block as is, but the intake bolt pattern is different from traditional small blocks. Get an intake to fit vortec heads and you're in business.
