350 small block hesitation

I have a 350 small block , at any point that I give it more throttle there is a hesitation and then it will take off . does not matter if I am sitting at light or driving at 50 mph but seems worse off the line and barely feel it 50 . I have tried The timimg at various settings from 10-20 degrees advaned . Any suggestions on what try ?

Look down the carb, engine not running, and see if you're getting an accelerator pump shot in the primary side, when you open the throttle quickly.

I did check that , I am getting a good squirt . I have adjusted it so that there is zero backlash but is not making the travel distance shorter .
Thanks

If you're sure you're getting a full shot, the accelerator cam isn't worn, I'll assume it's a stock motor, vacuum advance. HEI? Can you see the timing come in when you rev it? Check that there's no split or kinks in the vacuum diaphragm hose, and that it's tight on the nipples. No vacuum leaks? Floats not stuck and reservoir level good?

You manipulated the pump shot or stroke, is it coming in too late or early? Not likely.

The motor is not stock , It has a mechanical advance hei , summit 1108 cam and forged internals with about 8.7:1 compression . The motor had a blower on it until it had bearing problems . as best i can tell there are no vacuam leeks . I will check the reservor level , when i rev it the timimg does advance . I dont think the foats are stuck , it has actually done this for a while.
I am going to get it running better for now , actually I am looking for a motor to build to go under the rebuilt supercharger .

Adjusted the floats and readjusted the accelerator pump and its alot better but not perfect . I took out for a test run and promptly had the coil fail , its the first time I have seen this . it blew the coil wire right out with the oil that was internal , cleaned up the mess and will order a coil . car has a msd al-6 ignition system.

Wow, if it's not one thing it's another, eh? I don't suspect the coil was your hesitation problem, but let us know how it runs when you get it repalced.
