re: 350 turbo question

I'm going to move this to the "Transmission" forum for some better replies from the experts.

re: 350 turbo question

That year Z28 should have a overdrive automatic I believe, not a Turbo 350. I would go ahead and rebuild it ... if it was me. Especially if the Z28 was to be a KEEPER. Why take the chance and have to pull it back out ??

Camaro transmission

First it would be wise to identify the transmission correctly so you know exactly what your dealing with. Even though it may be a turbohydramatic 350 it may be a "C" model that had converter lock up. This is important in ordering parts, a converter or rebuild kit. Northern automotive sells engine and transmission kits for just about anything you can imagine from a powerglide to a allision 6 speed. Good company to deal with. Also the T-350 transmission was used by Chevy, Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Cadillac ETC. All were specifically programed for stall speed, rpm shift point range and shift timing depending if the trans was behind a Big V8, Small V8, Six or four Cylinder engines. This is good info to know to see if this trans will work correctly behind what ever engine you plan to use.

re: 350 turbo question

1st thing I would check is to make sure that the modulator valve has vacuum going to it.............if the vacuum line had gotten disconnected, they wouldn't shift.....properly anyways.

re: 350 turbo question

Any idea how many miles are on it?...I would tear the pan off and see how much sludge is in the bottom. If the fluid looks nice and red, I'd throw it in, make sure your vac line is hooked up good and see how it goes!

the car has 72,000 original miles, not sure if the tranny was ever replaced, haven't pulled the pan off yet

are there numbers to find out what tranny it is, i also have another one that came out of a 79 chevy van that had a 350 in it ( that is where the 350 for the camaro came from) but it has a 9 inch tailshaft not the 6, which is no big deal i can have the drive shaft cut
