350 tail shaft

all 79 camaros had the short tail shaft i got 2 of them do like he said pull the converter clean up the hub and replace the front and rear seals also replace the fluid,filter and pan gasket,i would also replace the dipstick tube and kick down cable o rings there known to leak just buy a gasket set with the seals thats the cheapest way to get all the stuff cost about 25 bucks check TSR racing.com i buy all my trans stuff there he has the best prices good luck

i would suggest a governor check. Under the round press on cover near tail housing.

Check inner valve movement, check plastic drive gear
Dont worry how old you are... it is the mileage on your body that adds up.

would trans need to be out of truck to take press on cover off to do governor ck?
