350 valve question

Hey guys,
I have a nasty lifter tap. I have adjusted several times. It either gets worse, or better for a small amount of time.
I would like to put new lifters and new roller rockers on.
Would this fix my problem? Or am I looking at a valve issue....

Thanks

Mike

1. Remove valve covers, observe all rockers for moving the same amount. If there is one or more rockers that don't move as much as their mates, then the cam is going flat.
2. Lay a straightedge across the top of the rocker studs to see if one or more studs are pulling out.

Could be many things. remove a valve cover and look.

I once bought a short Chevy school bus at auction. It had a nasty tick/hammer noise in the engine. Got it cheap and hauled the three skids of parts I bought home with it.

Removed the valve cover and found that the 350 engine had been run with a bad rocker arm. Run so long that the valve tip was thru the rocker and the arm was actually opening the valve by pushing on the valve locks and spring retainer.. Replaced the rocker, used a file to flatten the rounded off top of the valve. Engine ran for years.

YES, I was a short busser!!!
