I haven't done a turbo install, but I have installed a stage 2 super charger kit. I replaced the cam and lifters and replaced the rod bolts with ARP's. What a screamer that one was!

What was the effect on economy when driven normally?

I have never asked the customer that question yet. If you asked me I would say it had to be a lot better, because you did not have to put your foot into it very much to make that 4x4 spin all 4 tires. With just a light throttle it responded real well. I do know he had it on ebay for sale awhile ago, and I'll ask him next time he brings a vehicle in.

look into lower compression and like was stated a strong bottom end, i personally would use a holset hx35 found on dodge diesel trucks everywhere, will work for your size motor, and produce good boost to 5500 rpm and are relatively efficient a lower boost levels. and they are oil cooled, means easier on install. look into intercooling, a different intake manifold... an adapter can be made to fit ur throttle body on the intake. maybe step up to aftermarket efi. then get the exhaust to and from the turbos... ebay... sorry... is a great place for all this stuff

You might want to check this out, http://www.neufamily.org/truck.html I know for a long time he had a stock 350 bottom end. Im not sure if the info is still available but its a fun read.

One other note, don't do it if your on a budget and this is your daily transportation, expect to blow engines transmissions and rear ends.
