350hp out of chevy 350

Hey guys Im now looking into what engine to get for my rx7!! I really leaning toward a mid 80s 350!!! I was going to use the Whole z28 drivetrain(5speed)! I just wanted to know was it possible to get 350 motor hp out of the engine without bumping the compression!(untouched block)

no bolt on except forced induction is going to give you 1 hp per cube. compression makes HP. you could get smaller chamber heads for bumping the compression a point, or a thinner head gasket, but then the rings would likely fail from the newfound compression. really, 9.5:1 with a mild cam, intake and headders might get 350 HP.

A good set of aftermarket heads will get you there...with the right carb, intake and cam of course. 70s-80s small blocks had lousey heads, generally.

Well, it depends on the year of the z28...

If its an 80's z, I'd consider bumping the compression, but its not a huge deal at the 350 hp level. You certainly don't need 9.5:1. With modern heads, 350hp is as easy as breathing.

218/224 cam on a 110LSA, 8.7 to 9:1 under vortec heads, performer intake, small tube headers, done. 350 easy. I've done that combo a few times. The vortecs let you get away with less cam. Less cam is better suited to moderate CR. I'll agree, at an intake duration of 218, 9:1 is a bit better suited, and you'll still be able to run cheap gas if you tune it carefully, but any more than that will just add headaches, expensive gas, and only get about 10 more hp.

Wow that easy to get 350hp My car I had to buy all kinds of things to get around that! I was going to look for an 80s because I dont want fuel injected! I was going to have the following
