350turbo shifters on 700r4?

I am thinking of using a 350turbo shifter temporaily on a 700r4, while I adjust and check some other things. What would be the draw-back, except not shifting into first gear? I only plan on shifting from park to drive. I need other parts right now, and haven't decided what 700r4 shifter to buy. Will this cause any problems for me? Thanks.

no, it wont. ive had a hurst ratchet shifter in my car for over 8 years, for a th350 and the only real problem i have is no manual low. i set the linkage in neutral. the ratchet doesnt have quite the right geometry per gear going down, but like your intentions, its my daily driver and only gets put in od. the trans has been in the car since 1996 and has over 150k on the clock, and still going strong.

I have a Genni Shifter designed for the T-350 on the 700R4 in my 36 Pickup and it does not know the difference. I had to do a bit of tweaking and bending to get it installed, but it has worked flawlessly in all gears since 2000 and 50,000 miles.
