351 Cleveland in 50 Ford
Anybody have any experience or ideas on what I will need to install a cleveland in my 50 ford. I want to stick with the stock frame and use a C4 or C6. What oil pan will give me clearence over the crossmember? What about engine and trans mounts? What do you think?

re: 351 Cleveland in 50 Ford
I could have sworn I replied to this post earlier today. There is also a post missing (I cannot find) concerning a gentleman that wants to know how to wire an accessory tach to a 2005 F150. If you still need help on the CLV, let me know. ...gotta stop buying that cheap vermouth... |

H,mmmm
I do not think the engine or trans mounts will give any trouble..might need a speck of fabricating but nothing that cannot be done..
You may need to get a truck oil pan and pickup as I think you will need a rear sump pan.. Other than that this should be a fairly easy swap..at least as far as swaps go.. OMT

Kultuz the tach question is now in electrical.
As for the '50 Ford, glad to see people putting FORDS in a FORD. Sounds like a great project, I love '49-51 Shoebox Fords! Mike |

OK...THANX! I remember distinctly replying to this post earlier and referring him to Gearheads Products (for the mount kits) and his replying to the post... Time to update my medication I guess. Yes, it is a relief to not hear someone say SBC. The 351C will sit the same way a 302/351W will sit as both styles have the same engine mount pads on their skirts. ________________________________________ Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln ![]() -Divisions of CONTINENTAL -MEL Engine Forum- |

Cleveland in a 50
Kultulz- Yes you did reply, and thanks. Does anyone know if the pan from a 351M or a 400 will fit? Also, what years of truck do I need to look at?
Hmmm---Vermouth. Isn't that the stuff I walk by on the way to the Gin? Kerry |

Yes, they will interchange. The 351C has a front sump. If you need a rear sump, it will be on a mid-seventies/early eighties pickup 4X4 351M/400. You will also need the pickup tube and the retainer on the main cap that holds the pickup tube. |

re: 351 Cleveland in 50 Ford
I put a Clevland in my 53 Ford sedan and the engine compartment has enough room. The biggest problem is the drivers side exhaust. Theres not a lot of room there. Although I sub framed mine and use a Chrysler K-member & torsion bar front end, The steering box is close to where the stock unit was located. I can't get headers to fit but the stock manifolds do fit and flow just fine for the average street engine. The front firewall radiator opening had to be enlarged to fit a larger (wider) radiator and everything else was standard engine swap stuff. There are some pics in my gallery of thr 53.
