The Cleveland bottom end is better for high rpms, with it's small crank journals, The head design, although it was a good idea with the canted valve and big ports, I think you'd be better off with a windsor. The windsor crank is much bigger and beefier. With forced induction the port size is not so much of an issue. Many cleveland guys fill the bottoms of the ports anyway, and find they run better throughout the rpm range anyway.
IIRC, the intake ports on a 4 v cleveland are bigger than a stock BB chevy. Do you need that? I am slowly building a 4v closed chamber cleveland for my wife's 70 mustang, (that was the stock motor, and this is a restoration), and have enough stuff to build either a windsor or closed chamber 4V cleveland for my 69 mustang, I still haven't decided yet what exactly I want to do with that car. I'm leaning towards the windsor motor for that one, because I've had good luck with them in the past. Later, mikey Register now (free) or login to remove ads
