Possibly a 351M or 400M, I'm not really a Ford man on this subject, (I have lots of Fords but they have GM engines) but most of the mid 70's Fords that come into the shop are M's

I had a 72 with the 351-C and a C-6. It was a nice combination. You might want to write the casting # off the block, heads. and intake. A good machine shop will have the casting book and any cross reference manual to help you out. Good luck, Bud.

Yes Ford did have a 351-C in 74. Have him looka the heads and see it there is a 2 or 4 on the upper front corners. If either of those numbers are there then it is definitly a Cleveland. In fact Ford built the 351CJ up untill 74 with was a high output 4barrel Cleveland engine, but these are very scarce today, so finding one would make any Ford lover feel like he found the Holy Grail.

Goat is right, but the only 4 bbl you could get in '74 was the HO (it was the same as the CJ engine that proceeded it). If it's a 4bbl ,it's got some good stuff in it. The '74, while having the big ports, did have a valve size reduction to those of the 2bbl.
