I know where there is a Fairmont I could get pretty cheap around here, running and everything. Its a blue Four-Door. I know its a FOX car, but I have a 351 laying around, and I was wondering how much trouble it would be to stick this in the car. I was hoping some of the Fox-Mustang people could help out.

I need a Transmission though...

All the Fox Mustang stuff works. It has been done many times. Ws are 1 inch taller and 1 1/2 inches wider than 5.0s so obviously specific parts need to address that.

is the car a v/8, or 6 cyl. more likely a 6. you can modify the ft cross member if it is a 6 and use ford 150 mts on it .that way you don't have to replace the crossmember. have done this several times. the one thing that is necessary is use the 351 into fox headers. i bought some on a board, and they are in fact 302 headers. i know someone that has a 351 in a ltd, same car ,that is running in the 13s with it pretty much stock.

So, I could use F-150 351 mounts, on the crossmember, to stick it in there? I don't know what kind of Transmission I'm using, but what would bolt in?

The Engine is from a full-size van, If that helps any. I'm thinking its a 2-bbl...

you cut the ft side of the 6 cyl mm on the frame off ,as that will interfere with the eng, there are 2 holes ,one each side on the old mt that is where the 150 truck mt goes. enlarge the hole vertically by about 3/8 of a inch. the trans will be up to you. i would use a c4 .mate the bell housing on the c4 to the correct flex plate 157,164. and you will be in buisness. if the trans in the car is good now change the bell housing and good to go. the rear trans mt might have to be shifted a little.flat steel welded on will do that.

You should use Fox small block mounts. 5.0s and Ws bolt in the same.
Any SBF trans will work, your choice. I'd go for T-5 stick or AOD.

Remember Ws balance like a 302 not a 5.0 so a different flywheel will be required.

If you have done this before you may be right about the mts. if not don't give bad advice. I have put a sbf on the 6 cyl mts before and the only ones that work are the ford truck. got that t shirt.

re-read what I said.

If V8 Fox mounts won't work in a Fox car, and you want to cobble up some crap and make something home made...... that what hot rodders do.

Adapt, improvise, overcome...... like a Marine.
