Vince - that'll REALLY get some folks rolling. Me - I don't care as long as it's nice (tho I might just prefer steel even if it is repro)

Dang it's fun when we drift these threads. My apologies to the OP

This really pushes some folks BUTTONS ...
But for me ... I really do not care what someone else builds as long as it suits them and it is SAFE.

I do not use fiberglass or repro stuff ... because I enjoy the chase and acquisition of the original old parts and pieces. I understand not everyone has the time or the inclination to find all those old parts and pieces. It also HELPS that I have been a 32 Ford guy since the early 70's when Deuce stuff was more available and more affordable.

Its a coupe. I'm just in the planning stages... Setting up the chassis. I think I'm going to build, or have one built as opposed to trying to modify the original. I work at a fab shop so we have a lot of great welders around here, they're just used to building for heavy highway and marine applications.

There sure is lots to think about. Space being one, then there's the set up of the front axle with steering and suspension, the rear axle with the width and suspension and of course the cross members.

Wow my head is spinning! And I'm loving it!!!

This is when you sit down at the computer, open MS Word or whatever you have, and start putting your ideas into words. Confusion? Pass it by the guys here, and while none of us will promise not to wander like we did here, someone will have a good discussion idea. Then you have to decide what you want to spend - this has gotten to be a very expensive hobby as parts your dad would have used from the local salvage yard have been recycled into new Kias and Chinese made junk

Like the Child said, this has gotten to be a very expensive hobby, so unless you are loaded and the sky is the limit, keep that in mind when you start your planning. One thing in your favor IMO is model A's are a little easier to find parts for, but when it comes to engine, transmission, rearend, you will have to start thinking about what you want to do with it. Do you want to build up the engine? Do you want a lot of bling on it? Don't get into the trap, that I want a nicer looking car as so and so. Build it for you, not to try to have a nicer car than someone. write down what you would like to do, then compare to what you can do or afford. Like was said it can cost a lot, if you have tons of money, well then it's a mute point. If you are building a car thinking you can sell it for a ton of money, that doesn't happen very often. It's for you to have something to do, have a good time doing it, and enjoy driving when your done.
There are a ton of people here willing to help, on every subject you want, and some you might not.LOL So just have a ball.

Bob
