351W/350hp, in 1950 F1, picking a transmission to use
I wnat to get a transmission to go with a 351W/350hp. Can anyone help with suggesting a o/d transmission? I also need some help with what gear ratio needed in the rear. I plan on driving my 1950 F-1 both city and highway. Any help would be appreciated.

I think a late 80s ford AOD would be appropriate. No electronic controller needed.

The AOD as mentioned above - just do your homework as some versions/years are much better then others.
As far as final gear ratio - with a .62 OD reduction, a 4.10 can be used which brings it to 2.54 prairie cruiser gears. The final ratio and tall tires can "kill" any performance though, so choose carefully. |
