351W distributor

I have a 71 - 351w, will a distributor work from a 1969 - 302? I know the firing order will be different. If not, any recommendations on an aftermarket distributor.

Jimbohd54,

I think the advance curves are different but it will fit. The distributor doesn't know which cylinder it is firing so just change the wire to match your engine.

will it work....maybe....

there are different oil pump drive shaft lengths depending on the pump and pan and different dist gear shaft lengths for the oil pump drive shaft

$40 for a rebuilt correct 1971 351 dist....it's not worth messin' with the 302 dist

and definitely do drop the pan and replace the pump drive shaft with a new one with the shaft retainer ring in place

so now the pan is down....how many miles/years old is the oil pump?

No won't work. 351W's have a taller deck height then the 289/302. The 351W has a longer housing.
