why dont i see more stroked 351s with the 396 kit

That's an interesting question in my neck of the woods all the 351w's I know have been stroked either to 408 and 427. Why there are no 396's is a good question.

can't find 351w cores at all around here!

The scat stroker kit is the one to use. It cost big bucks. The money might be the reason for the lack of interest in stroking but it would be the answer to the problem of shock tower clearance, in early mustangs. The big blocks take lots of room up in the poor little mustang’s engine compartment.
