Well, if you were happy with the 352, you'll love the 390. It is going to be easier and cheaper staying with the FE instead of going with the 460.
I would just go with a quality rebuild, a mild COMP CAMS cam and you have a new aluminum intake don't you? What year is the 390? |

i did like the 352 but i also liked the idea of the f.i. 460 but this 390 just fell into my lap at a pretty good deal. im not sure of the year. i believe its newer than 70 it was pulled out of a 78 4 x 4. i was told it was running good when pulled. i did put a mild cam in the 352 just to give it a little bit of a lope but im thinking if i put it in the 390 it would be too close to stock to see a difference. im starting to agree with you though, it doesnt make a whole lot of sense to dump all that money into building the motor for race (especially in this big car). i think i might just do a rebuild with like you suggested. thanks

Don't forget, most anything you put into the 352 can be transferred to the 390. And you don't need to build a full race FE to enjoy the car. Build the 390 for low end torque and you will have a grin from ear to ear. There are so many low buck things you can do to that engine that will let you be competitive on the street. -FE Engine Parts- |
