355 chevy

Hello,I have a 350 bored to 4.030, heads are 882's been ported and cleaned up best i can with the kits on the market,i have installed 1436 silvolite pistons, they say the cr,ratio is 8.8 would like to get in the nines if possible.I checked the deck height of the pistons to the block and whooly smokes it's 0.035 th,if i did it right. If i installed 0.015th,felpro head gaskets what would it bring the cr,up to and what would be the cam to use, would like a Lil lumpy to sound the part, have 2101 manifold and quadrajet 4,this is hooked to a 2004r trans with shift kit and 9" rear end with 3:25 gears sitting in a 53 ford p.u,if you could give me any info on this would be appreciated.

Honestly, Your compression is down into the 7:1 ratio, and why is because the pistons have .020 whacked off the tops. The correct compression height of a 350 piston was 1.560, the "rebuilder" pistons you have are 1.540, the companies did this as they claim "they didn`t know what the deck height would be" which was BS in my opinion, I`ve rebuilt many a small block and only had 1 decked and only because I wanted it decked for quench purposes. The piston being that far down in the bore along with head gasket thickness kills the compression ratio, and since there oversized it kills even more compression since it`s that much more space added. going to a thinner gasket won`t help you any, since you can only go so thin, and if the block wasn`t decked and the heads aren`t decked to assure there perfectly flat, the thin gasket won`t seal. The only option you have is to either get a flat top piston with the correct compression height or get smaller chambered heads, to get it to around 9:1 with the pistons you have, you`ll need around a 60cc chamber.
