35Terraplane is down!

I just had an e-mail saying that Bob (AKA 35Terraplane) has had a bad fall and is in hospital for a bit

The main info in the e-mail is as follows:

He fell last Thursday and will be in the hospital/care center for at least two weeks. If you want to contact him by phone, he is at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in the Transitional Care Unit, Room 208 (moving him today). The number is 218-546-7000 - ask for room 208 in the Transitional Care Unit. You can also reach him on his cell phone at 612-849-3885.

The initial assessment was that nothing was broken. After doing a CAT scan, they found a fracture of the bone underneath the kneecap. He is not allowed to put any weight on his left leg/knee for 6-8 weeks. They are keeping him in the care unit so they can train him in daily functions with a walker and brace.

That's horrible news but glad he's ok. I don't know him personally but if any of you contact him, please do pass on the well wishes. Will be keeping him in my prayers.

Bob is one of my favorites on the site, I will be praying for a speedy recovery. Somebody get him a laptop so we can hear from him and he can stay off that leg!

Thanks for posting this, Dave, I was starting to worry and I'm sure glad that they are optimistic.

Here is Karen's link that people can also check for updates on Bob.

I plan on calling him and I'll be sure and pass on all of your well wishes.

Just finished talking to Bob and I did manage to understand him even with his Yankee accent and pain medications. LOL

He is in real good spirits and says that he will probably be in the Therapy Rehab Unit for 6 weeks so it looks like he's got his work cut out for him. He might have meant no pressure on the knee for 6 weeks but between my hearing and the medications I might have gotten that part wrong.

The accident happened at a Dinner/Bar that he and Karen were at and he wasn't clear on just exactly what made him fall but thought it was the leg on a chair that he could have caught his foot on and once he started falling he couldn't stop and unfortunately landed on his knee. The fracture is under the knee cap and is like a spider web and not a clean break (he seemed pleased with that) They have him in a brace and are pursuing active therapy but the walking sure does make him tired.

I asked him if he preferred calling him on his cell or the hospital phone and he said it didn't matter because he had unlimited long distance. When I first called, I called the Room 208 and when he picked it up he musta dropped it and cut me off so I called back on his cell and we talked for a good 30 or more. He said the room phone was still laying on the floor.

Last but not least, I passed along all of Y'alls well wishes and he was very pleased to here that.

I probably won't call him again until the middle of the week and I'll be sure and report back here after talking with him.

WR

Dang - that's horrible. I just read the other information on the attached site and it sure sounds mean. If it's a longitudinal fracture running down the bone, it will take a while to heal from personal experience.

Bob - when you read this, please be better

They say that Bad Things Happen To Good People. I'm sure that's the case here.

Sorry to hear... I just got off the phone with him... He said he's doing OK... He said he was going to be working on his car tomorrow, But now that has going south.. I told him to just take it easy and try to enjoy his little time off... Bad things do happen to good people... He's one of them... I do believe that with all the member's we have here... If we all said a pray for him, He would come running out of that hospital before he knew it..Take care my friend,, And know that the prayers will be coming from Me and my family..

He did say he was going to get his laptop and will be back soon..Stay strong Mr.Bob.. And I'm looking forward to having you back with us..
