36 element sprag?

I'm rebuilding a Th350 for my B&M 250 supercharged small block 73 Laguna. I'm wondering if I should be using one of those 36 element sprag & drum kits to beef things up. I had the motor dynoed at about 500 lbs of torque/ 545 hp approx. and think this maybe at the threshold of even a hardened outer race I planned to use. I have found a kit for $260 from BTE Racing and am thinking of getting it. Any opinion on this...can I get away with the hardened outer race piece?

sprag

IMO i would use the 36 element sprag for your combo. You may get away with the hardened outter race if you run only street tires and never drag race it. I would look at it this way. If you run the hardened race only and it breaks do you mind tearing the trans out and fixing it???? Or would you rather spen the extra money up front and allmost eliminate it from happening???

You got a point there, it's just painful to spend the extra money for the kit. I do plan to occasionally drag race it so I guess I should do the upgrade then. Thanks
