36 Ford back seat

I'm looking for a back seat to put in my 36 Ford Tudor. Of course, it's other than the original seat since I don't have one. I remember reading that some mid-sized cars rear seats worked well. Any suggestion would be helpful. Thank you

I have made rear seats for cars. The owner couldn't find anything to fit so I made it out of wood. Once it was upholstered couldn't tell. Tom

Thank you Tom. What I have now is covered foam over plywood. Both panels are flat and it's very uncomfortable. I see that you must be an upholsterer and probably have a much better way of doing it. Did you form the wood to the contours of the original seat or what? I would like to see one that you have done. Thanks again. Bill

Bill,
Sorry I dont have any pictures. I just made it so it would fit the openning and contoured it to resemble the front seat. If the top back where it joins rear shelf is curved you will have to cut a board out to fit contour and then attach to plywood. Just lay straight edge across openning and make you a cardboard pattern to cut out board Sounds like your seat you have now is either a thin foam or a hard foam. I cut opennings in the plywood for webbing where a persons bottom would sit for more cushioning. And use good foam in different density layers to get it comfortable. Use a less dense foam for the back rest. Hope this helps. You can email me at wernerupholstery@yahoo.com Tom

36 ford rear seat

my 36 tudor has the stock rear seat ,it aint real comfortable.when i hit bumps the kids look like there on a trampolene. but, my buddy is building a tudor also and he scored a bench from a mid nineties chrysler mini van .the thing fit like it was made for the tudor. also the back folds forward so you can get easy access to the trunk.check it out. good luck

36 Bench Seat

I have a front bench for sale for 36 ford if anyone is interested....I'll likely use my rumble seat in my build, but may also have a rumble if I choose to go another direction.

I put 85-91 LeBaron front & rear seats in my 35 Ford Sedan. Use the side bolsters, plus they lock and are split to get access to rear.

Joeford Do you have a 35 grill on your 36?

Joe, p.m. me your address, I've got the taillight housing you need. I'm not looking to get rich on it, send me a few bucks for shipping after you get it and you're sure it's what you need. I'm going with the old look, 39 Ford taillights. Dan

I used a mid seat from a Dodge Caravan in my 25 Chevy 4 door sedan it worked great since it folds flat and I can carry gear back there when there are no passengers it was cheap to I got two power front seats and the mid seat for $50.
