36 Ford rearend selection????

Hi, I have a 36 Ford Coupe (chopped) and I plan on a 289 with a C4 along with a Chassis Eng cross member. Why a 289, because I have one! With the basics described what rearend should I be looking for? I have been told Maverick but is that the only choice? Thanks, Dave

57 to 59 Ford car and a few others. Chassis Engineering lists the better donor rear ends for their kits....With the 289 ........strength should not be a real issue..

I used a Maverick v-8, 5 lug, had to move the spring mounts a bit. Street Rod Engineering makes a kit for this. Look at my album. Dan

Dinger, wish I had seen your frame work before I did my coupe and pickup. Would have save a lot of brain cells and may have had a better setup for a lot less work!!! Your project is looking good. I hope to take my coupe on a 500 mile shake down cruise after the just completed EFI project on it.

A 67 thru 77 Bronco rear end is perfect for the 35-40 Fords, but the 9 inch would be over kill and the most common 3.50 gearing would beg for an OD tranny.

rearend type

Thanks for the advice. It is a 5 window project. Plan on a trunk, not a rumble. Dave
