Hi, i have a 38-48 flathead. the one with the bellhousing cast into the block with the closed drive gearbox. is there any adapter or a way to make it open drive to use a normal propshaft with the gearbox, or is there an adapter or a way to use a different gearbox? (maybe a C4 auto box) any home modifications i can do before i spend alot of money. Im in England and i dont think theres anything i can just buy as an adapter or conversion kit over here. Only place i can think of is Flat O Matic but after shipping and everything it is going to be real expensive. would prefer to go auto. I will stick with my manual box for now if theres an easy way to use a normal propshaft. im looking to stick this engine in my Ford 100e popular. i also have to locate a manifold(mine broke while i was stupidly trying to modify it) would prefer one for a holley 4 barrel going off topic here a little so ill shut up about that and post in a different thread later. But if you know any information or anything that may help me and is available in the uk or can be shipped to uk without me having more money in the gearbox than the whole car i would greatly appreciate it.

Rumor has it that the 49 - 50 - 51 Ford flathead pickup truck transmissions bolt right up to you early bell-housing and I KNOW that they are the open drivehaft type transmission.

thanks. id think finding a complete flathead gearbox over here would be near impossible and shipping from states would probably be more expensive than the box its self. but ill do that if theres no other easy options. thanks again
