38 cad restoration/ chevy 350 eng.

Hi. Im a 76 yr old geezer restoring a 1938 60 special cad. Ive put in a 1988 corvette sb engine. I had planned to use the original flat head V8 but for now Ill be using the chevy eng. It a frame off restoration so makes it easy for the eng install. I modified the 38 cad bell housing to fit the sb chevy. It also will still fit the org engine for an easy swap. The chevy 350 I converted back to carburation. I plan to use this forum for questions that might arise in my quest.
What Ive read so far seems like we all have common ground to make this a neat forum. leroy

retrofit 350

Sounds like acool car, gave a friend a hand quite a few times on his 53 Cad. He had a strange auto trans in it , can't remember much about it, but I don't believe it would even come close to fitting a small block. Any idea on what trans your going to run and the mounting, just wondering on the amount of work for the trans, engine sounds easy. Happy Hotrodding.

I am using the original 3 spd column shift trans. and original running gear. It took more work then I expected. I used a extra 38 cad bell housing to modify. had to cut some of it and drill new holes. made 1 bracket to utilize all mounting holes on the chevy block. Critical part was lining up the pilot bearing to the trans. The chevy bearing has the same ID as the 38 cad trans. Also the cad 5 hole bolt wheels are the same as the ford 150. A lot of work but fun fun
