38 chev,exactly how do I shim body?

I have a 38 2 dr sedan. I'm starting my body work, car is assembled and running. The front fenders, hood and doors are all out of alignment.
I'm starting with the door allignment and read that they need shimming, but I can't find any references to WHAT size body shims to use and exactly what I need to do. Do I need to undo all the body bolts? The drivers door has sagged 1/4'' at the belt line and a little tight along the A pillar, gap under the A is good, the B pillar side gap is good..The passenger door is sagged 1/4'' but the B pillar door gap is wider at the top.The passenger side upper hinge broke and was welded,I think this caused the gap dif.

I have a 39 four door sedan. If you need any pictures let me know and I will see what I can do to help you out. I did not do the body myself but it lines up perfect. The front fender are from a 40 as I liked the lights better.
