Kevin's right liquid stripper is the way to go , if you get too heavy handed with a disc you could get the metal hot and stretch it giving yourself even more bodywork to do . If you find the paint tough with liquid stripper - put a good thick coat on then cover it with cling film (I think you call it Siran wrap? ) and leave it overnight then it should be easy with a scraper and steel wool . Then just use a sander with 120 discs to clean off any dried on residue.
