383 build
I have a 65 chrysler 383 that I want to build. Since it came with a steel crank, I want to keep the bottom end stock (no $ for new crank and rods). Would like to make relatively high rpm high hp mill to put in darg car. Street manners not a concern. Planning on victor heads, 12ish comp. Not so sure about cam or carb size. Anybody with any proven combos?

Hi,
In 68 I bought a new road runner, drove it home & pulled the engine, put a 4:30 gear set in the car along with a pinion snubber, had the block bored, heads worked, roller cam & rev kit, the rods were don, & had to have custom made pistons, hooker full comp headers(fender wells), I forget what intake, & a worked holly carb (the headers keep rusting so I had them chrome plated) there were other things don also but you get the drift, I built this car for modified production class, wound up in c/mp did Ok came out of the hole at 7200 rpm, it felt like a train going a 100mph gave you a push (Ronny Socks took it down the track a few times, he liked it) But I was never completely happy with the car because I was sure I would have don much better (faster) if I had started off with a 440, just something to think about.
