Recurve the distributor for 24-26deg at idle base timing. 34-36deg at max advance 3000-3200.
a short , limited 10deg mech advance curve. The advance must stay stable at idle.
start at 1100-1200rpm, from 24 26deg. Medium tension advance springs.

Make sure the advance travelstop is limited to 10deg. you got 20+++travel now.

Then vacum advance goes to ported vacuum. Should add a max of 10-12deg at high manifold vacuum.
The amount (rate in and out) at hiway cruise has to be found by testing.
Make sure the vac advance system is limited to 10-12deg tops. too.

Big cams need lots of base idle timing to idle correctly.

if its over 244@.050" duration simpley lock out the mech advance and run full timing at idle 34-36deg and ported vac advance.

Change thee power step up spring to a 4".

Go to the base jetting map for the marine 600eddy carb to start tuning.
Replace the plugs. Gap at .035"
Why are you using points ignition? Its the year 2012 now.
Time to get with the new century. Get a pointless electonic distributor.
Running points is pointless.
