when using 24deg base timing what is the max mechanical advance
If more than 36deg @ max advance @WOT (no vacuum advance) you must restrict the mech advance travel stop.
(shorten the mech advance curve) 10deg is usually good.

you got the idle right but verify the max WOT advance (34-36deg)

You can use the points distributor to trigger a spark box MSD, CRane etc.
Now the points will last a longer time as no current crosses the points.
Much better spark. Keep the spark plug gap around .035" reguardles of what the Spark Box instructions claim.
