383 stroker
I have a 383 stroker with 6in rod and .030 flattop piston 2 valve relief
they are ( speed pro #h124cl.) what would be a good head and cam to use this will be street use only and use pump gas.I don't have feel for head and cam to use concern about compression. thanks |

Vortecs with a touch of pocket porting will be great on the street. The 64cc chambers will put you at about 10.5 compression with an .039 felpro gasket, but the excellent chamber design will let you run high octane. Keep total advance in the 34 degree range.
For a cam, it would help if we knew the car and its weight. transmission? rear ratio? tire size? |

Yup. You can't go stabbing a huge cam in an F350 that weighs 7000 lbs with 3.42 gears. It also means a lot if he's using a 700r4 with its 3.06 first gear or a T56 with a 2.66 first gear and .50 double overdrive.
its not necessary to know all that, but it really makes a huge difference between a well matched setup and a slug performer. |
