383 stroker

hello everyone..im a new member but ive been reading post for some time now..i have a 76 chevy chopped top truck that ive been fixing up for a while now..its time for the power plant now..my question is about a 383 stroker with sportman 2 heads,scat crank,eagle 4130 i beam rods,30 over flat tops,580 lift cam,should i go with a 750 or 850 double pumper?..just curious what some of you guys think.this is my first horsepower engine,my kids are grown and can finally afford a little extras here and there..thanks for the help any advice is welcomed...

both carbs are good.I use a 950 on my 434.

i bought the engine and was told it made 560 horsepower..i dont believe it..ive not put in in the truck yet tho..kinda curious of what 383 strokers can make horsepower wise?different ratios i understand with different setups..

560 hp?

To make 1.5 ish hp per cubic inch of displacement you will need serious parts.Example: an LS-3 make about 1.25 HP/cubic inch with a hydraulic roller cam,good flowing heads,fuel injection and a very good intake manifold.Your 383 will need to better all of those parts likely including a solid roller cam to make 560 hp.
The cost of a gasket set will tell you exactly what you have.
