Take out # 1 plug and bump over slowly , while holding finger over the plug hole , or stuff a ball of paper towel into hole (not all the way in the cylinder). When you feel pressure buildup or the paper is blown out, you are coming up on TDC #1 firing . Look at timing mark on balancer and make sure you have not rolled past it. If it is not up to TDC manually roll it up with ratchet & socket.
Or if you can easily take off valve cover and watch #1 intake valve open and close then roll timing mark up to 10-12 degrees before TDC.
Pull dist cap and make sure rotor button is lined up with the # 1 plug wire, should be close up enough to fire , then put a timing light on it.
