383 stroker advice needed

I currently have a 383 stroker with 4v relief pistons at 10.1 cc, 640 lift solid roller cam. Motor is in a 3300 lb Camaro running 11.58 et. If I get 12.1 dome pistons would that give me a better et? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Maybe, you really haven't given enough information to go from. Give us all details about the engine, trans, converter, rear gear, vehicle it is in, etc.

You could mill the heads a little and get the same result. But at 12:1 its race fuel only remember.

Cam duration?? It is more important than the lift figure.

Converter brand or model??

Any fiberglass on the car, or all steel(trying to get approximate weight)??

1/4 mile MPH??

Again, how much ET gain are you looking for??

I think it's 295 duration, not sure on stall brand i just know its a 3200. at least thats what the specs are. i just weighed the car with me in it and its 3360 lbs. im running 11.58 and want to gain at least 5 tenghts.

That was my guess as to how much you were looking for .

You're not going to get 5 tenths from a compression ratio change unless you go clear to 14-14.5:1 area. Going to 12:1 from where you are at now will get you 2 to 2.5 tenths at best.

A compression ratio change to 12:1 combined with a head and manifold port jod could easily get you there. Or combine the compression change to 12:1 with 1500 rpm more stall.

!00 shot of nitrous will get you there with no other changes

Its "six of one, half a dozen of the other", mix and match any 2 of the three suggestions above....head and manifold pro ported and 12:1 pistons, or.... 12:1 pistons and 4500-5000 rpm stall, or.... 4500-5000 rpm stall and pro ported heads and intake manifold.

Head flow is likely holding you back more than anything, the -8 Pro is a pretty small head, the smallest head Brodix sells, only 185cc intake runner and flow figures not a whole lot better than a stock Vortec head. Head porting alone will get you the improvement you are after, but it might be cheaper to sell the heads you have and just buy a better set more size appropriate to your engine. Something in the 210-215cc intake runner range.

There might be something to a cam change but without knowing the .050" duration I can't tell you if what you have is a good current match or not. Not 5 tenths worth here though.

A rear gear change might get you up to 1.5-2 tenths, get the car to cross the line in the 7000-7200 rpm area.

I think a head swap or head porting is the only silver bullet" single modification to get what you want.
