383 stroker kit (Ebay)

Hey guys. This is Hazard once again with another question on my 383 stroker project. I finally found a machine shop and my next step is to purchase my stroker kit. I have looked around and checked out prices on individual parts as well as complete stroker kits. What do you all recommend when buying the rotating assembly? I don't want to spend on fancy parts or just throw away my money. I'm now debating if I should purchase a stroker kit that is sold on ebay or just buy item by item. I don't want the engine for drag racing. The home of this engine will be in an 89 chevy regular cab that I'm restoring inside out. Going to be a weekend truck. I know this is one of the cheap kits, but how decent are this kits? Here goes the link for one of the kits I ran into on ebay.

Also, if the kit comes with flex plate and dampner, would the balancing be reliable? Would hate to rebalance if not necessary.

Also, thanks for all the feedback you all have provided on my prior threads.

Well it all depends on what you want to do as far as power and such. I mean for a basic daily driver cast crank and I beam rods are fine. The other thing is depending on what compression you are running, with cam lift, rocker arm ratio and such you may want to be able to make sure your your pistons have the proper valve recess. Of course for your average rebuild these things aren't much of a problem, but I'm guessing since you are looking at doing a 383 you aren't just wanting a normal rebuilt 350.

i have a 406 2 bolt but got a 4 bolt this past winter and built a new motor after first buying all my parts except the crank (and it was the same price and i saved on shipping at jegs) from kevin at racers outlet on ebay.he specialize's in sbc parts but has all others.he has great prices.you can't go wrong.he treats you right on the shipping prices too.check him out,you won't be sorry.the only bad thing about him is hes only there 4 days a wk. for a couple hrs. a day.but to save money you can work around that.

The ad says it's balanced, which usually is done with the balancer and flexplate.

Checked his last two negatives and they were about shipping and paypal. Nothing about quality.

Sounds like a decent deal.

Well, I'm planning to use an XE274H-10 cam from Comp cams 230/236 duration. As for compression, I'm trying to keep it around 9.5, so I'm going with dished pistons due to the vortec 64cc heads that I'm going to use, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 750cfm holley, 1.6:1 roller rockers, springs specified for cam. I'm starting from scratch here, so all parts going to be used are going to be new. It's going to take a while to finish this project, but I'm trying to get into the low to mid 400hp range. Any recommendations on this setup? I'm still undecided about the cam, but that's the setup I'm starting off with.

Let me check out Racers Outlet on ebay and see what I can find.

Thanks,
Martinez

I bought a 383 kit from that same guy a couple years ago.I was very happy with it. He was a nice guy, I got free shipping and he clearnced my rods for free!

I got my SBC 400 bottom end kit from that guy. I did a lot of research before buying, and this kit was the best for the money by far.

Another for T&L on ebay. Atleast look at them before you buy. They actually check ALL clearances before shipping.
