Scat and Eagle make kits, problem is most kits come with a -12CC dish leaves you 10.3:1.. i am building the same engine right now. its a 97' block

Techinspector likes the -18CC Keith Black pistons as they give a D shaped chamber for better flame travel and less detonation. They come with some Eagle kits but you need to search. I would have used them but I was having a hard time finding a shop that was willing to sell them and had them in stock.

Heres the Run Down,

Scat Crank Cast steel
Pro Comp 5.7 Rod
-22CC Probe Pistons Forged
8" Balancer
Flexplate
Custom Balanced With Sheet
Hastings Rings
King Bearings

Cost 865 to my Door

The setup took minimal Clearancing on the Main web I am running a .501 .509 Roller Cam with GM hydraulic roller lifters

Cut the block .010 Leaves me 9.35:1 ish depending on my Head Gasket and it will run on Pump Gas

1005.00 Got me .015 Head Gaskets, Cam bearings, Oil pump Kit, and head bolts, and soft plugs.

another 365 and I have my cam new rollers, and Timing set by Cloyes.

If you are interested I can give you there number PM me

Problem is you run into expensive limits. The scat and eagle cranks are rated to 500HP meaning you are at your limit.

What you need to answer is what are you planning to use this for?

What kind of budget are you in?

What type of RPM will this see?

I wouldn't worry too much about that Scat crank, just keep the RPM under 7,000 and pay real close attention to machining, balance, and assembly.

To make the most of those trick flows and get your 500HP you may be in the 550lift area and allot of duration, you could most likely go with forged probe 12cc dish pistons cause you will want the higher compression to light it off IMO

A healthy cam, alumimum heads and good quench will help it live with 10.3-10.5 compression and 93 octane if the convertor and gears are matched up and the tune is bang on.

this kit uses scat crank and probe pistons, they may be able to substitute the flat tops for the dish version, good folks to deal with.

thats what I have. I subbed for a deeper dish piston to run easy on pump gas and get me around 9.3:1 SCR, depending on the head mill.

I just got done breaking in my1996 383. I used SRP sportsman 16cc D dish and polished up the combustion chambers. After all was shiny and deshrouded, the combustion chambers were all between 67-68 cc's. I used. 028 headgaskets. 6 inch cap screw rods. Minimal grinding on the block when using capscrew rods!
